Wood joinery transmission of compressive force

The step joint as a wood joinery connection to transmit compressive force is not only used in the restauration of historic timber buildings. With step joints you can transmit high pressure forces easily. The technical possibilities of modern wood working machines together with the use of dried construction timber provide a wide range of application for the step joint.

Module T04

With our module T04 you can design single step joints, heel notch joints and double step joints according to DIN EN 1995-1-1:2010-12 in connection with the National Application Documents.

    Design criteria

    The design of step joints is regulated by DIN EN 1995-1-1/NA:2013-08. Chapter NCI NA.12 of the National Annex deals with carpenter-based connections. Here it is also described how to design step joints.
