Ridge joint

Ridge joints in frame structures

In addition to their use in industrial buildings, three-hinged frames are increasingly used as an architectural design element. Module T05 enables the design of ridge joints in timber frame structures.

Module T05

Module T05 enables the design of ridge joints in accordance with DIN EN 1995-1-1:2010-12 in conjunction with the applicable National Application Documents.
 

VERIFICATIONS

The following verifications are performed:

  • Verification of bearing stress under vertical loading
  • Verification of bearing stress under horizontal loading
  • Verification of shear stresses
  • Load-bearing capacity of the vertical steel plate
  • Verification of the fillet welds of the ridge cross

Design basis

The ridge joint is designed in accordance with DIN EN 1995-1-1:2010-12 in conjunction with the applicable National Application Documents. The steel ridge cross is designed in accordance with DIN EN 1993-1-1:2010-12 and DIN EN 1993-1-8:2010-12.
